In the past, being a dedicated movie fan meant collecting physical memorabilia like autographed posters to demonstrate devotion. However, in recent years, companies have turned to digital collectibles as the new symbol of a fan’s commitment.
Really (formerly Moviebill), an AR platform offering digital collectible movie tickets and interactive experiences tied to the latest blockbusters, has partnered with blockchain platform Avalanche to introduce "Fandime" NFTs. These NFTs provide a new avenue for movie studios to engage with audiences. Additionally, Really has expanded its AR collectible tickets to cinema partners in the Asia-Pacific region, including Japan, Korea, Australia, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Users can earn Fandime tokens through various means, such as attending movie theaters and events, purchasing merchandise, and engaging with Really's AR experiences like weekly trivia and scavenger hunts. Fandime tokens can also be acquired directly within the Really app on iOS and Android devices.
Each Fandime receives a unique Blockchain-based ID, is minted on Avalanche's blockchain network, and is stored in a user's Really account.
Redeemable for digital rewards, movie-related AR content, and exclusive opportunities, Fandime tokens can also be used in Really's games. Amazon MGM Studios has already launched a collection on Really, featuring movies like "American Fiction," "The Boys in the Boat," and "The Beekeeper." Users who collect all three AR tickets can earn exclusive Fandime tokens.
Looking ahead, Really plans to expand methods for users to earn and redeem Fandime tokens. Additionally, the platform intends to create original AR content and explore opportunities beyond the entertainment industry.
Since its founding in 2017, Really has partnered with Regal Cinemas to provide exclusive AR content for movies like "Avengers: Infinity War." The platform has distributed over four million AR collectibles to Regal customers across 200 films, including recent releases such as "The Marvels," "Napoleon," "Killers of The Flower Moon," and "Wish."
Ultimately, Really aims to engage moviegoers with immersive experiences that drive them back to theaters on a broader scale, leveraging the advancements in AR/VR technology that have become mainstream.
